Suggestion: start and end dates for add-ons

Hey EE, could you allow people to specify the start and end dates for add-ons?

For example, when someone takes a roaming pass, it is usually for a trip they know the dates of, but unless they contact you in time to cancel you'll charge them for something they are not using. This kind of profiteering from oversight is rampant in the industry. Can you do better?

Other opportunities:

  • more base stations near commuter routes in the UK...shockingly bad commuting with an EE phone still in 2024.
  • visual voicemail on Android...works great on other networks, but not EE

Any one else have ideas?

Cheers!

@Profile closed  Purchase it when you need it and stop it when you’re back.   What would happen if you setup a automatic stop service and something was to happen while your abroad and your service suddenly started costing you more than the spend cap you might have on your account or what if you have a zero spend cap and you can not use the device as you have no service because of a zero spend cap because your not paying the daily charge.     Will this then be EEs fault for you having no service or being charged or would you as the customer take responsibility.    I bet the customer will point the issue at EE.

Set a reminder in the calendar app  to alert you to remove the add on.

Thanks @Chris_B , it sounds like you are overdue for a handset upgrade! You're in for a treat!

The majority of EE mobile customers have moved over to smart-phones. They can run sophisticated programs, connect to multiple networks; they even know where they are. They are have potential to do smart things, like giving the user notifications, reminders, and options like extending a feature. Given EE can enable a service in about 2 minutes, dealing with an emergency extension would not have to be the end of the world.

If customers didn't want to specify an end date, they wouldn't have to.

Let's kill this thread, because the response you have is exactly the line of EE about anything that might improve life for their customers.

In case you see this.     So you don’t want to take responsibility and you obviously don’t know how to setup a reminder so you can stop such a service when back within the UK.   Just because it might seem like a good idea to you doesn’t mean it is a good idea for everyone else. And with deleting your account you obviously only think about your own needs and what would be good for you.  And dealing with an emergency issue that last thing you will want to mess about with it’s trying to get to use your tariff allowance while abroad as you just want it to work first time you try to use it.
