so I’ve got 25GB of data and received a text saying I’ve used it all even though I’ve been using WiFi. How does this work?

Android & Apple phones have a data counter facility which itemises data usage down to individual apps. The answer to any "what have I used my data on" query is usually found by checking this menu option.
