Hi, we have got a caravan with no broadband access so when we take our firestick we have to use hotspot off our phones which can be a bit hit and miss, when we click on WiFi it quite often shows up tp-link, can anyone enlighten me as to how this works, setup etc

When you do a search for WiFi networks, the "SSID" is shown which is the name of the hotspot.

TP-Link is a brand of wireless router, so this sounds like you're connecting to a TP-Link device that's not had its name changed from the factory default.

Sorry it only shows a couple of tp-links but we can’t join them as they are password protected, I’m wondering if we could benefit from getting one, would it be faster/more reliable ?

You're picking up the networks of some neighbour's TP-Link mobile router but as they haven't granted you access by giving you their pwd you can't connect. Have a word with them. Something similar might suit you.
