I have a SIM card for an iPad that is out of contract since 2022, but not txt or phone to message END to 150.

i have been paying for months for a service I don’t want. And it is unclear how I end it.

i am close to going to regulator over unfair terms and difficulty of exiting. Must have paid £200+ for a service I don’t want. Have tried to complain but the IVR options don’t cover these things.

Help?

Hi @HJC70

You need yo call EE CS on 150 and give 30 days notice to cancel.

Your contract does not just end your minimum contract term ends with your contract continuing on a monthly basis.

Thanks

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone. You can call Freephone +44 800 079 8586 on Skype

Hey @HJC70 ,

So you’ve got a pay monthly sim for an iPad that you want to cease. I’m a little lost as to why it’s been so difficult to cancel. If you contact EE customer care, they’d be able to get you to the right people who would accept your cancellation request.

But without you contacting customer care and giving your notice to cancel, then the service won’t cancel.

But back on point, if you’re wanting to raise a complaint then check out this link as it guides you through how to raise a complaint and the various ways you can do it (phone, webform, email etc.).

If you’re just wanting to cancel this SIM card then you have a couple of options. Firstly, you could call EE and give them notice to cancel. They’ll ask for 30 days notice and after this time, the sim will cease.

If you need this to happen quicker, then you also have the option of generating a STAC code for the data sim (as it will have a phone number assigned to it) and giving this to another provider to action as this only takes one working day and waives the 30 day notice period. What I will say though is if you’re not confident in doing this then option 1, asking EE to cancel and giving the notice is your best way forward.

Thanks.

I don’t have a txt or phone capability on my iPad, so no 150 for me. There is no simple email address… but I can write a letter.

ee front end is a horror show … press 1 for this or 2 for that and quite confusing. End up in wrong place and they won’t help or boot you back to the start.

Today the team simply isn’t in.

I am pretty busy too.

I have instead turned it into an unfair terms and conditions and design dispute with the Communications Ombudsman.

thank you

Hi @HJC70

You can use Skype over wifi and the number in my signature, although you say you have called so have some capacity to call.

As for your last point, this is all detailed in your terms and conditions.

Thanks

I do have a mobile phone.

But considering there is no contract number on any of my billing and the difficulty of trying to reach the right back office team, I say not so much.

in relation to the terms and conditions, fair and reasonable is relative to the design of the customer/business interaction. Plenty of evidence that I have put into my complaint to the communications ombudsman that this falls significantly short.

But hey, I am going to write about this experience.

Appreciate the response though. Thank you.
