I have EE's 5G WIFI mobile device - the big white rectangular one. I pay monthly and when I search my account tells me this is free to use in most of Europe - France specifically. It also says 'to turn on roaming text ROAMING to 150'. As this isn't a phone and has no screen or keyboard etc how I can I turn roaming on or find out if it's already on? Is roaming turned on as the default out of the box? Thanks all.

Most mobile routers can do texts. Login to it & look for the SMS section.
If you started your contract after 07/07/21 it isn't free to roam in the EU but there'll be a £2 / day charge for using your UK allowances in EU or alternatively you may buy the Roam Abroad Pass for £10 / month charged pro-rata.

Thanks. My contract started in Nov 2021, from my account page it gives me the option to check what roaming charges are applicable to France - it told me there was no charge to use my regular allowance. So that's confusing.
Concerning the text message - I cannot see the device on my laptop to access it. I connected it via an ethernet cable and then tried the USB socket, neither shows the device on my laptop. I only have access to my account page via the EE website but so far haven't found anything there allowing me to send a text message? Do you know how I see my device to access text messaging?

You don't see the router from a PC. You browse to it by logging in at 192.168.1.1.

thanks again. That worked. Although it does seem I am still unable to write a text - all I can do is view inbox, delete messages and reply to messages, but not write a new one. But no worry as in the settings section I found that roaming was turned on and in auto for network selection so that has answered my initial problem. Thanks very much, appreciate your time.

I doubt that it has. You are looking at the settings of the device but it is whether roaming is enabled on your EE a/c that matters.
