Data sim

Hi. I move all over the UK. Went in store and was sold a £5 DATA SIM. This is to check if I get a signal at all the sites I will be on. I have put it in a tp-link Archer MR200 and I get nothing. My devises connect to the tp-link and I get 4G on my Plus Net phone but nothing on the tp-link. When I got the sim I was told all I had to do is put it in and off I go. Is there something I am missing?

Morning @Gibbo53

Thanks for coming here.

Are you able to try the SIM in another device to see if this shows signal and can use data?

Thanks 🙂

Leanne.

Hi Leanne.

Yes I have tried it in both a tp-link M700 and Xperia z5 with no luck.

I have just got on to My EE and it is showing I am £5 in credit and that I need to buy a pack.

The only one showing for £5 is 250mbs 500 Text and 250 minutes.

So much for this being a sim with £5 of Data on.

Hi @Gibbo53

Can you text ALL PACKS to 150 when the SIM is in the phone, do you have the option for the data pack?

If not, can you try going to add-on.ee.co.uk on a device connected to the WiFi router, does the data pack show available to purchase?

Leanne.

Hi Leanne.

I have sent the text and I get the same information. It looks as if I have been given duff information from the shop staff. They don't seem to do a DATA only Sim. I was told in store that if I went for a DATA only sim I would get better coverage and more down load. At least it is only £5 I have wasted and not signed up to a twelve month subscription.

Thank yo for your help

Hi Leanne.

Out and about for the next few days. Will try and phone them when it gets quiet.

Thanks

It looks like I was miss sold a SIM.

Let's hope EE re train their staff.

I will be back in Southampton next month and will see what they have to say about it
