5gee router (nr5103) not switching to external antenna

I have connected up a 4x4mimo external antenna to my 5gee Nr5103 router. It is not switching to the external antenna even though i have put the switch on the back to EXT. I cannot find any find any settings to change, has this external antenna been locked off by EE?

I know the external antenna isn't working as the router is now hidden behind my tv where it gets a poor signal using the internal antenna, it is currently connected to the external antenna but speeds haven't improved. When i move it out to the window sill but leave the external antenna connected, speeds improve greatly.
