Hello,
I am seeking some advice regarding 5G routers, as I live very rural and our landline internet is very poor (about 6mbps for super fast fibre). Latest update from open reach is we won’t be upgraded until Dec 2026, so I am thinking of going the 5G route.
I have tested the signal and I can pick up 5G about 2-3 meters outside the house, so can I use an outside antenna and bring the 5G signal inside to use with a router?
I have used a 4G EE router previously for working remotely from home on Microsoft Azure which worked ok, except the actual speeds didn’t translate to what I got when connecting remotely which has made me a bit cautious, however I never tried using it for anything other than working from home at the time.
Would the 5G be stable enough to use for Sky Q around the house and all other devices?
What are the pros and cons of using a 5G router as appose to landline internet?
What would be the best and most cost effective router to consider? I have seen someone on here mention a Zyxel Alley I think, but I cannot find this online?
Thanks in advance.
