Promised a text and call back from an agent. Neither happened. Sat on hold for 1 hour 40 mins!! No answer. Appalling

Welcome to the community,
Not sure why you sat so long waiting for someone to answer, this has never happened to me. Why did you not hang up and try again at another time? This will also depend when you tried contacting customer service, if it is at a busy time, then that could be why.
This is public forum, not customer service, is there anything we can help you with?
Maybe try again in the morning, might get through to EE customer service, as they are now closed.
