Hello,
On 30th May 2026 I was critically injured whilst on a bike ride, in the country lanes near Knebworth. I only live in Watton at Stone. My injury required the dispatch of the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT), which is a charity and doesn’t receive any money from the UK government, as I sustained a seizure upon impact. They were able stabilise me at the road side before I was transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge. Once I was at Addenbrooke’s consultants discovered I was suffering from a swollen brain, a brain bleed & skull fracture (forehead, eye socket & cheek bone). It was at this point the consultants decided to place me into a medically induced coma, so my body could focus on repairing itself. After a week I was awoken and then diagnosed with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and remained in hospital for a further three weeks as I regained my consciousness.
I’m now in the process of arranging a fundraising event for Essex & Herts Air Ambulance and Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust who both helped to save my life after my bike crash. I know this is cheeky but was wondering whether EE might be willing to donate something for a raffle at the fundraising event? All proceeds will be split evenly between the two charities.
Many thanks in advance
George
