Game Mode - any difference?

I recently updated my broadband package to include the Smart Hub Plus and Game Mode as, since Openreach rerouted me due to dodgy cable in the street, my speeds were all over the place. I play a lot of multiplayer Call of Duty and the game display typically shows a latency of between 27 and 39 ms. I measured my speeds before and after setting up the Smart Hub Plus and Game Mode boosting and they are identical. I used 'Speedtest' and never saw a ping as bad as the EE app said I was experiencing before Game Mode/WiFi Enhancer. 

Am I missing something?

So, from the lack of feedback, I guess that Game Mode does not help my latency situation and that it makes no difference to the speed of my gameplay.
