Landline number in quarantine

My mother has taken out a broadband and phone contract with EE, moving from Supanet. We were told everything would transfer over on 12 July. Broadband went smoothly but she has now not had a working phone line for 5 days. After numerous calls to EE we’ve  now been told that the nunber will be in quarantine until 6 August. How can this be?

My mother is a vulnerable customer and has been left without any means of contacting people or being contacted and EE saying there’s nothing they can do.

We were not told this would happen and we were not asked if we wanted a new number. We were simply told everything would be activated on 12 July.

@Reedy1 More possibly a question to ask of the old provider why they are not releasing the number for use by EE. ? you dont have a temporary number assigned or is there just no dial tone, landline now plugs into the rear of the router...
