EE Landline Porting Nightmare - Anyone else had this much trouble moving a numbe

Hi all,

Just wanted to see if anyone else has dealt with this specific headache after switching to EE broadband.

I got a landline purely for my aging parents to call me—it's cheaper for them, and they have my old number (which they rely on for fast-dial).

When I signed up a month ago, the sales team basically promised me that: "You'll get a temporary number, but just call us the next day and we'll easily port your old one back." So I thought but wrong.

One month later, the landline still doesn't work, and my old number is nowhere to be seen. It's clearly a much more complex porting process than the sales team let on.

The irony is that this number was originally issued by BT five years ago when I moved here, so it's not some ancient relic.

Has anyone else been through this with EE? Did you manage to get your old number ported back, and if so, how long did it actually take? Any tips on who to contact inside EE to speed this up would be amazing!

Thanks.

Who was you landline no. with. Was this the same provider as your BB was migrated from?

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Home Broadband & Home Phone or Option 2 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Thanks for replying. Landline 2021-2022 BT; 2023-2023 EE; 2023-2025 Sky. Same number.

So the landline is meant to be coming from Sky. If that where your BB was migrated from?

Yes, from Sky.

Yes, when I moved to EE from Virgin 2 years ago, having also moved address, and having explained all this to in-store staff where I signed up and stressing that keeping my landline number was essential and being assured not a problem had horrendous problems. Took 3 months to resolve, Some staff seem to genuinely not know what they are doing if it is not something bog standard but hard not to suspect there was a push on to meet new broadband sign-up targets and promising anything to get those sign-ups. No proper documentation. I saw BT Group later got a hefty fine from the regulator for not issuing documentation. Lot of time wasted on this but eventually found someone helpful (by phone, not in store) and got my old number ported back. As to any tips, too far back now to remember. Has definitely coloured my view of EE. I'm out of contract next month.

Thanks. I came due to prices but maybe a decent service is worth paying for and so far EE has been seriously incompetent bordering on deceitful.
