When do I have to pay my first bill?

Hi, I only started my contract with EE on Friday 12/08 (iPhone 12, 40GB) and as it is my first time having a phone on contract, I’m a little confused about the payments.

On the My EE app, it says my bill is ready and that they will take it by Direct Debit on 21/08. However, when I text BILL to 150, it tells me my last bill was produced on 13/08 and paid on 11/08 (when I took out the contract) and my next bill won’t be until September. So what does that mean exactly? Will I have to pay my bill again on 21/08 even though it says my next bill isn’t even until next month?

I’m sorry if this is very straightforward and I’m just not using my brain, but I really have no clue.

Thanks.

@AlfieB7 , if EE have your bank details, then they will take the amount automatically from your designated bank, you do not have to do anything. You get a bill several days before they take your money, you can then check the bill by either logging in via the app or online via the website.

As it shows, your bill is now ready to view, but the money will be taken on 21.08 or near that date.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

Thanks for responding.

I understand that, but I’m confused about is that it says I’ve paid my bill on the 11/08 so why am I getting another one 10 days after?

@AlfieB7 , I would not worry about that, you do not need to do anything, as EE have your bank details and will take the money out on the date they have told you. Please do not pay, otherwise you will be double billed, although the money that is in credit would go towards your next bill if you did. I have never text 150 about my bill, always check via the app or online, that is accurate. If you are worried, you are welcome to ring customer service to put your mind at rest.

That's what it says but you should know. Did you pay an EE bill on 11/08, i.e. did EE take a DD on that date? I would doubt it when your bill was posted on 13/08. DDs are taken about a week after the bill is posted.

On that basis you won't be paying twice for the same bill.
