Upgrading during SIM only Contract Term

I currently have an IPhone 14 and I’m out of contract this month. I’m undecided on if I want to upgrade to a new iPhone. If I get a 24 month sim only all rounder for iPhone, can I add that to a new iPhone in the future if I decide to upgrade device?
