So I was told by an advisor to avoid bank charges to cancel my direct debit for this month so I have done this that's all fine what I'm wondering is does this permanently cancel the direct debit or just this month's as this month's has already been paid for for context I bank with Halifax I'm just wondering on the EE system it still says ¹1I have a direct debit with the correct details my question is will they try to take next month's bill as usual or will I need to set up another direct debit this shouldn't be the case as it's still on the system

@annamink : With your bank but it's not advisable when you still have a contract & are committed to paying your supplier regularly. Cancelling a DD does not cancel your contract & it lays yourself open to being chased by debt collectors & marring your credit reference.
