Limited Tariffs

Why are there limited tariffs available and are different depending on the phone you want?

My wife contract renews on 19th Jan. She currently has Pixel 6 with 4gb data limit as I have unlimited and gift her data monthly (this helped us keep costs down). She wants the Pixel 8 (NOT PRO) and it only allows you to choose a minimum of 25gb. The price that comes out as is too much. She again only needed 4gb or lower due to me gifting her data, its pointless to us having more. But if she chose the Pixel 8 Pro it lets her choose a 5gb tariff. Why is this? Why not for the normal Pixel 8?

Well we decided already she is moving network and getting unlimited everything for £24.99 a month with only £30 down. So that is besides the point.

But the same is happening with me, we both decided I would stay with EE and she will move to ID (who uses the 3 network) as we do alot of markets where we take card payments and we have had incidents where we couldn't take payments due to no signal. So we would have 3 networks available if need be as I also have a Vodafone sim in my dual sim Galaxy Fold.

I have taken the decision after years with Samsung Galaxy devices to move over to Google. I want the Pixel 8 Pro but the tariffs are limited and actually very expensive. I was going to double check just now but the website states you are having technical issues.

Why are all tariffs not available for every device?

@BrendonH

You are better off buying the phone and tariff separately (in full or finance ) mate as economically this works out better as it gives you more control longer term. SIM only is the best way. Anyone why uses the carrier to get a phone is nuts in my view given the deals for unbranded devices online these days direct from manufacturers.

EE is also very expensive these days.

Thanks

@Northerner yes I had my Fold 2 from Currys on finance and possibly thinking of getting the Pixel 8 Pro from Google direct but their new tariff system don't seem productive on getting people to sign up to be a customer let alone upgrade.
