Just Cancelled my EE contract .... when does my service finish

I ve just cancelled my contract with EE 

When do they "turn my sim card off"

so if i port over number  today my final bill will be less rather than waiting the 30 days

If you are currently outside of your minimum term and you port out, you will stop paying on the day of the port.

@TSL1966  Yes.   Just do not terminate your payment method as you could be owed a refund if you port your number out before the 30 days are up.    You pay for the month ahead not in arrears so you’ll probably find you’ll be owed money if you port out before 30 days.
