I spoke with customer service then they cut me off. I have been paying for a full contract for almost two years after asking for sim only when my contract ended in March 2023. Now i’ve had a text saying my contract will end soon- nightmare- trigger explaining but just kept going round in circles asking me if I wanted a new contract

At a guess, it sounds like you might have moved to a 2year-minimum SIM-only in March-2024, and that's now approaching end of minimum-term.
That doesn't explain the disparity between March 2023-4 though, and if you're already on a SIM-only, and are happy with your phone, then you just need to compare current SIM-only pricing with what you already have. Your contract will only "end" if and when you give disconnection notice or port out using a PAC.
Ultimately, EE-CS have access to your individual account to advise further. We can only guess & speculate on this forum.
