I got a letter saying I owe £50 for set up? I am so confused as I order a sim only contract £12 per month. And now I have a letter saying I owe £62 as £50 is due now for set up. I haven’t had anything set up and I just received my SIM card in the post today. I haven’t even opened it yet.

can someone explain what this is?

It says nowt about any set-up. That is probably a refundable £50 security deposit possibly against roaming or you paying your bills regularly for 6 months. See Why is my bill higher than normal?

Deposits

In some cases, we ask for a security deposit based on your credit check. This allows you to join EE or use certain services.

You may be asked to pay a deposit when:

  • you join EE and we activate your account
  • you activate services such as Full Roaming, International Call or Premium Rate Calls

Both types appear as Deposit for Service on your bill.

Your deposit is automatically refunded once you have built a good payment history.
