My Broadband is due renewal. I looked online, the EE quote was ~OK but I noted Plusnet or Sky were significantly cheaper, it was also cheaper to be a new EE customer requiring kit than an existing customer requiring a button to be pressed. I have two mobiles on EE and a previous conversation suggested I could get these reduced. 1hour 15 mins later I got cut off, but the deal went like this;
Are you happy with 71M fibre, yep I am a low user, one TV, two people.
OK we can offer you 300MB for a much higher cost than your renew. No thanks, I don't need the speed.
OK I can renew at £X (which turned out to be a much higher amount than my EE portal is giving me).
I suggest I can get it cheaper on the EE portal, Rep says OK we can match the EE web offer price but not at the price if I was a new user. Great, thanks!
OK what about the mobiles? Ah we can save you cash here, but will need to reduce the allowance from unlimited to 60Gb, (I use 2-3Gb / month.) so that was OK , but then the rep came back with pretty much the same price that I am paying now for unlimited. The rep was looking at this further but whilst off checking this, we got cut off.
I had been on the phone for an hour and a quarter. and was repeatedly offered stuff at a higher rate than my current EE offer, or offered a discount to find out it wasn't
Q. Is there any point in talking to renewals?
