My air time plan has ended and the price has gone up I have been given the option to continue paying more for the same contract, switch to a sim only deal or leave ee and continue paying for the device.
i called to find an ee sim only deal and i was told i have to stay on the same air time plan until the device is payed off in 2025.
is this right? If so why would I receive a text with other options.
thank you in advance 🙂

@Jduce0 That’s not right at all. You can upgrade to a sim only and continue paying the remaining term of the device contract. You don’t have to remain with the same airtime contract until the device is paid off.
You can even change networks and continue paying for the device contract if you so wish. It’s two separate contracts.

Same with me, I called them yesterday and they told me I have to continue paying my airtime contract even though it is now out of contract, or if I wanted to cancel it I have to pay the rest of my phone contract upfront just to get a different air time plan. I am going to call back again as I did think it was 2 separate contracts, I suppose I need to read through the contract properly.

@Rach_H The problem is and I was told this when I took out my flex tariff that once I completed the airtime 24 month contract I could upgrade to a sim only while continuing payments for my device contract that’s over 36 months. It’s not a full device upgrade it’s an airtime upgrade/change of tariff. If a customer can not upgrade even to a sim only after 24 months airtime tariff has ended then why are the airtime tariff 24 months and device tariffs 24 or 36 months. Customers are being held in contract still even though they are out of contract and could change provider if they can not change the airtime contract after 24 months. If this is the case I was miss sold from the moment I was told I could change the airtime tariff once that part of the contract was completed.
Forcing customers to pay off the device contract which is a separate contract to the Airtime contract just so they can have a sim only is point blank wrong. And EE will still get the payments for the device contract. the customer can change providers to get a sim only and EE will still receive payments for the device contract over the remaining 12 months if it was a 36 month device contract. EE are only going to force customers to change providers because of this. I don’t think this was thoroughly thought through.

I just got off the from with EE, they have cancelled my flex plan, still continuing with the device payments for the next 12 months, it seems different colleagues tell you different information, anyway just a heads up that you can cancel your flex plan when it runs out without having to pay the rest of device plan upfront.
