Upgrade from FTTC to FTTP - engineers not coming for 3 months?!

A week ago I placed an order to upgrade from FTTC to FTTP.  The order tracking had an estimated 'outside' engineer visit on 28/10/26 and subsequent visit on 6/11/26. Yesterday an Openreach engineer unexpectedly called at my house - luckily I was in - and he said that digging would be required to put the cable in, so we agreed a route for it and he said the work would be done in about two weeks.

I just checked my EE order status and it now says an engineer visit to complete outdoor works will happen on 22 Jan 2027 with a subsequent visit on 2 Feb 2027! These dates are still estimated, but surely they can't be right? If so, what's causing the delay of 3 months?!

Incidentally I've had no communication from EE since placing the order, apart from a text earlier this week saying they'd update me in 3 working days and another yesterday saying they'd update me in 8 working days(?!). They initially promised confirmed dates within 5 working days of placing the order.

Thanks for any help. If necessary I'll contact them directly but thought I'd ask here first to see what other's views/experiences are.

@h2005 Does not take much for the civils teams to get delayed, especially over a 3 month period, that is why Estimated.

This location they have had to do multiple cross roads digs, new flush installed pavement boxes, then dig up gardens and get to the outside wall for the home, pity it was not last week, there was another two OR civils teams here bottom and top off the street, 44 homes all on the wrong side due to blocked ducts and 60 year old properties not fun for those on the wrong side off it all. Could have done a few pictures all barriered up again.

The work for my installation is fairly straightforward - 3 or 4 metres along a pavement, 2 or 3 metres in my front garden and then a metre under concrete beside my house.

@h2005 Just keep the eye on your orders section and any text messages you get from OR, respond to those if requested to do so, it is normally a CONFIRM etc if you are happy for the team to start etc, civils is the biggest delay teams pavement diggers etc.

I was not expecting any dates but was looking for any difficulties noted. There were none other than it's a 2-stage install (KCI2 Assure) which is in line with what you've been told.
