Moving home without full fibre availability while still in contract

I took out a 24 month plan for EE's Full Fibre 900 package in December 2022 and have had a positive experience overall. In the upcoming weeks I will be moving to a property which only has FTTC. This leaves around 6 months of my contract remaining where I will not be able to receive FTTP.

I understand that there is a move home option available, how does this work?

  1. Does this start a new 24 month contract?
  2. What will my monthly fee be?
  3. What happens if EE's availability checker advertise speeds of only half what the line supports i.e. the availability checker only gives me an option for Fibre 36? Other providers, including BT, advertise speeds in excess of 70 mbit for the same postcode. This is consistent with the BT wholesale checker, I expect to receive at least 60 mbit if not higher.

  1. Yes.
  2. EE will quote you when you apply for a Home Move.
  3. Unlikely. If a line supports 40 Meg FTTC then it probably supports 80 Meg. 40 Meg Fibre is just the standard capable FTTC there capped at 40 Meg.
  4. What does BT Wholesale Broadband Availability Checker > Address Checker estimate for your new addy? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your addy.

Thanks for your reply, the wholesale checker has this information:

CodeLook estimates my distance to the cabinet between 600-700m. I estimate the straight line distance is less than 200m (I can walk to it in 2 minutes) so I would expect I should easily exceed 36 mbit.

Yes, you should get at least 67 Meg there & probably 80 Meg.
