Major downgrade in tech.. the hub 7

We recently got offered a renewal at the same price as we were paying to avoid price hike, this involved supplying the newer wifi 7 hub, good we thought. then we got the thing and.. it only sort of works. The router itself seems fine, but the wps is crap and the wifi extender simply doesnt work at all. Plus for some reason the connected mobile phone contract has been downgrades as well...

So first off the wifi extender, it wont pair without a cable which makes it completely useless, despite following the instructions to pair it via wifi it wont do it. Simply ignored any pairing attempts the only way to get it to connect is direct wired connection which defeats the whole point. Has anyone come accross this or any idea how to fix it.

Things we have tried so far

  • WPS pairing, tried and failed
  • Factory reset of the wifi extender, tried and failed
  • Connect the extender temporarily to the router via ehterne to learn the settings, tried and failed.
  • Leaving it for a few days to "settle" tried and failed.

From what i can find online this is a known issue with these things, loads of people have this problem but, what is the solution?

Secondly is the mobile, under BT we had a connected sim with unlimited, as an add on, just got a message saying we have to have a supported contract with EE to maintain it or it will be turned of. Well i do have a contact with ee but, they turned it off anyway.

All in all i think this "upgrade" is the worst decision ever and its a good job theres a 14 day cooling off as we can still cancel and go with someone with better kit.

@grumpywhale6 Just continue to use what you had previous hub/extenders wise as long as everything is working fine.
