Morning Everyone,
After waiting for any news, I saw that the new WiFi 7 is being advertised and the Smart Home Pro is available.
So I’ve signed up for the 1.6Gb package which includes the WiFi 7 Router.
I will update this post once I receive everything and I’ll do a full review.
I get the new iPhone 16 Pro Max this Friday on launch which is WiFi 7 so I’ll be able to test out the new WiFi capabilities and then I’ll do a wired test to my gaming PC.
Estimated Date for equipment = 28 September 2024
Date for Installation - 2nd October 2024 - 8am to 1pm.
Although I don’t need an engineer as I have everything in place from my previous internet so will see if I can just plug in myself 😄

All, when upgrading fttc/fttp on 18th Sep, the wifi 7 package was available as the £10 addon, as i did not need never bothered, Asus user anyway. Just letting everyone know as this posting is steering this way for some reason.

@iammbuk just checked my EE app and my predicted next bill includes £205 termination charges!!! Despite the guide telling me I wouldn’t incur any charges. Is this the same for you?

Hiya @Colesey I’ve checked and don’t have any fee like that at the minute thanks for the heads up, I’ll keep an eye out, that's really bad they have done that to you, I was told WiFi 7 would be free included with my account which we know is not the case as I’m on a 1Gb plan

@iammbuk Currently on the phone to them to tell them I won’t be paying the £205 termination charge!
were you also in a 24 month contract for the smart WiFi plus when they removed it?

Don’t blame you yes I was on a 24 month contract here no mention of any cancellation fee though… yet anyway

It appeared for me under the ‘next bill estimate’ under billing in the app. Nothing there for you??
25-09-2024 07:43 PM
Nope not seeing anything like that in my account
25-09-2024 07:47 PM
Panic over! They’ll credit my account when the bill is generated. So in case it happens to you as well, they’ll remove the charge…

@Colesey I’m glad they sorted it for you and thanks for sharing and letting me know I’ll keep an eye out and get in touch with them if needs be

The issue is that existing 1.6gbps are being told they have no way of ordering them, but lower tier packages are able to get them. Apparently in a list somewhere.
so they do have ways of ordering them, they just procrastinating for their top package holders. Also let’s say someone orders a new 1.6gbps package and their router it DoA, they would have to replace it.
Im probably being really pedantic here but those who pay £70 for 1.6gbps are going to be enthusiasts. I’ve had the 1.6gbps for a while and it’s impossible to get full 1.6gbps over WiFi or Ethernet
