Hello guys,
Maybe someone could help me because i'm intending on jumping to the 1.6Gbps package and i need to know if the actual fiber cable, more exactly the end of the cable is dual or single because i'm intending on having my own wifi7 router with spf+ support and i need to know which transceiver to purchase.(don't really want to use the RJ45 socket) - (I wont use their provided hub)
At the moment as a common sense person and because most widely available cables/transceivers are dual i purchased a 10GB dual spf+ transceiver in the 1310nm wavelength.
Best Regards,
denede

I assume that you have been looking at something like this:
which is not available to end users in the UK.
Will the system change? Personally, I doubt it as it allows ISPs a measure of control over ONT design and technical support. The ONT is also a clear responsibility demarcation line.

After some long talks i got this:
Using your own ONT or a compatible GPON SFP module is technically possible, but it involves matching the serial number of the existing ONT to the new device, which can be complex and might not be supported by EE. Additionally, using your own equipment might void any support or service agreements with your ISP.
It's possible they just make it hard for you.

Exactly.. This is widely available in most of the countries..(well normal ones)
Or.. even a better idea.. look at this picture. See the fiber cable ? Instead of doing all that and connect your router via the black ethernet cable, why not just take the fiber directly into your own wifi7 capable (g)pon ont device? All you actual should need is the fiber cable end into your house. that's it.
P.S i've purchased the proper SPF+ transceiver which should work with their wavelength. bidirectional, simplex.
P.S2 Picture from the internet, not my own

@denede As soon as you put your own router on no matter what you decide to do, then EE as an ISP no longer support you in anyway as they only support there own equipment, this is virtually the same for any ISP, similar if you wish to do whatever with the fibre it's all down to you, there will be a 2.5Gb/s lan port on the ONT device, and the power draw is negligible.

@L8Again There is already a user who has done it.

Fair enough - but the inner me has to ask WHY?

@L8Again Looking at his previous post's i would say he is a specialist in the networking field, and how he did it who knows?

The only thing that got me to try this is if i do have the spf+ port on my wifi7 router.. why not actual use it ?
I did payed 700monies for the router itself.. And another issue that was bugging me for some time: If we pay for a service we should be able to use it how we want since we payed for it. They just need to provide the actual service a.k.a the actual link. Not install/use or force us install/use their proprietary bs

The actual service as sold & supplied starts at the WAN port of the ONT & no earlier.
