FTTP Installation

I am getting fttp installed at my house in a few weeks time and was contacted by openreach to allow them to do external work. Once the external junction box is installed by them, does the fibre cable have to run directly through the wall behind the junction box or can they run the fibre along the external way and drill into a nearby wall into the house and plug into the ONT?

@husain_ali   There is a degree of flexibility but best discussed on the day with the fitter. Cups of tea and choccy biscuits can help, but without more details of your property layout it is hard to say more.

Of course you have the option to refuse on the day in the hope of getting a better option, but it needs to be practical.

@husain_ali And also it's all about time constraints, time is money, allocated slot for the install, OR are way more helpful than a Contractor assigned to do the job, if like me you knock the contractor back then just double the time again for the new slot...

Yes, it is possible to run the fibre cable from the external junction box along the wall a fair way to the point where you want it to enter the room you want the ONT.

I had it all done on the same visit. My fibre cable comes overhead to the top L of the house from the nearby telephone pole. From there it descends vertically to near the ground where it turns R for a few inches to the external junction box & then travels a fair way near the ground horizontally on the outside wall to about the middle of the house where a hole was drilled into the room where I wanted the ONT.
