Check number genuine

Is 07973 100606 genuinely from EE/ BT as it is one digit different than on an EE list of numbers for a direct partner and I am paranoid as I clicked on a link I was sent via text and the EE looks odd in the text like E E so EspaceE

Hi @SUEYR

Thanks for coming to the community.

I can totally understand the need to be wary of calls and links that you don't know.

I've had a check, and it is a genuine number that one of our internal teams would use, so there is nothing to worry about.

The link is one that our guides use to share the contract details with you.

Doesn't look anything like you described it: "E E so EspaceE".

Thank you. It seems odd/bad customer experience that it’s not listed as a number EE calls from as per webpage

https://ee.co.uk/help/profile/manage/how-we-contact-you

Also wasn’t one for any partners and one digit different from one of Interact (something a scammer could do if they gain access to almost identical number)

https://ee.co.uk/help/profile/manage/phone-calls-from-our-partners

I contacted Inter-act directory who said that it didn’t belong to them and to speak to EE.

Add to this other comments on internet stating number is a scam (including some not even saying it was from EE) and the EE looking weird on the text with contract that involves clicking a third party link too. Plus the whole overlapping of BT and EE.

I spoke to BT customer service via webchat yesterday and had called as well and whilst both webchat and over the phone they could see the outbound call they couldn’t confirm the authenticity of the telephone number and could not see a record of the text with the link and suggested I speak to business team for if they could see anything (it’s complicated in that it’d be moving to a business broadband contract with my husband having a business mobile contract) .

Also didn’t help that it seemed the agents notes were also showing in their manager’s name too, which added confusion.

I tried the business webchat but they couldn’t find anything against email addresses I provided them with and then it hit 6pm and their agent ended the chat saying she couldn’t help, their opening hours had ended and she needed to catch a cab, go speak to Residential.

A contract is not yet formally in place and I want to be 100% sure everything is genuine before I proceed to avoid any danger that number has been spoofed.

I have meanwhile requested a copy of notes for me to at least be able to hopefully see the outbound call notes.
