Welcome to the community,

not a lot to go on, please explain why you are not able to connect the laptop to the internet and where you are trying to do this.

Have you searched for the internet and tried to connect that way? Is it a public internet or one that has a padlock? If padlock, then you would not be able to connect without permission from the owner of the internet and would need a password to do so.
