Broadband extenders

I am running a BT hotspot broadband extender using the mains electric from my EE router. This creates a separate wifi network which is annoying as my phone or other devices seem to connect to the weaker signal in the home. Question is can I update the network settings to be on just one network name? Does this reduce or impact the speed or reliability of the main network?? Thanks

@Walters999   It’ll still be a separate network.  It’s just a name change.  if you want one network that has more than one connection point, then you need to start looking into a mesh network.       This is a router that has other network points around your home but is all one network just with multiple access points. Your devices will just handoff from one point to another, and you won’t even know it’s happening.
