Activation Date

So,

My FTTP date of activation is 26th and the equipment is estimated to arrive on 24th. If my equipment arrives on 24th, can i request EE to alter the activation date to either the day of the equipment arrival or 1 day after (25th). Just curious?

Also i have an existing FTTP ONT (Openreach) in my property, and the email that EE said is that it's an "Self-install" type of installation. Does this mean that i can just plug the Plus Hub into the ONT and it should be LIVE on the day of the activation. Currently i have Sky Broadband (FTTP) but that is going to be swapped out with EE.

Thank you.

@DebbieHartley38 It is highly unlikely to move your date, the equipment arrives early so you have it, and activation is anytime up to midnight of your activation date, its not just unplug and re-plug on the OR FTTP cable side. You should receive a series of e-mail/text to keep you informed, so keep sky online until notification of EE is active. Self activation is unplug sky and plug in EE and if they have done it right then you will be up and running quickly, new EE router will probably run FW update etc. Is there a landline telephone involved if so same idea as the sky router? The new EE app can do a quick install were it will set up and use existing details if it works but you never know. EE app will be needed if you are doing any special parental controls. Hope this answers some of your question. If you have already received e-mails about setting up your EE ID etc, i suggest you do that asap, and app / web account takes a few days to settle and fill correctly.

Hi,

We do not have a landline included with our package. It is only a broadband only package. 900mbps download and 110 upload. So is this correct:

- I will use the existing ONT via ethernet on the activation day itself.

- With the order stating that it is self-setup, that i will easily just need to plug in and power the router and let it do updates and it should be online in no time on the activation day when informed the connection is active.

- I already have an EE account and the EE app, so i should be able to easily control and manage the broadband.

And last question, is it likely that EE will be just fine with getting active on the activation day.

@DebbieHartley38 Yes, you got it all correct, my change from Sky happened about 3am on the activation day, and as i had already primed my router with all the sky details as i wanted quick switch over, plugged in and let it do its thing, was zero issues. You will just have to do that linked accounts with your app, but sounds like you have it all under control. Things can go wrong but you just hope not, just follow the details supplied with the router, but i have copied the link below from the help if you need it. EE help is quite good so have a look when you get time. Hope it all goes smooth....👍

@DebbieHartley38 The EE router is more like the SKY Max version, and still has a few teething problems, I had the older SR203 model with split bands, now the new EE does not allow this, the signal is just a little bit weaker than the sky but they are not apples to apples as no too routers are alike. I don't use all of the features that the router has, and not a fan of app control for a router, but the app is working and probably does control but as i say do not use but have used it for device naming and setting up of groups etc, and don't want to mess with it just in case with latest version at 5.40.0 currently... Any questions feel free to ask.

I've seen some reviews on the Sky Max Router, generally speaking i don't think it's worth the money adding another £3 a month just to get a potentially weak router. With the EE package, at least their wifi 6 router comes included instead of their Hub 2 or something. I do have the Hub Plus (the extender thingie) from EE as well and the Wifi Enhancer. So it all should be good.
