EE today launched its new TV service, EE TV, available with EE Broadband.

EE TV means amazing entertainment and sport, with Sky channels from NOW, Netflix, TNT Sports and more – through flexible packages that can be changed month to month, so customers only have to pay for what they want to watch.

The biggest news? EE TV will launch on Apple TV 4K via a new app with a bespoke TV guide for a complete and seamless live TV experience, as well as an EE branded remote offering instant app access. Customers can now choose the best TV experience for them, with a range of set top boxes including Apple TV 4K, EE TV Box Pro, or EE TV Box Mini.

For customers wanting to watch in multiple rooms, only EE TV comes with up to 2 extra EE TV Box Mini’s at no extra cost.

Those joining the new EE TV service will be able to enjoy six months free Apple TV+. Apple TV+ offers award-winning Apple original series and films, from hit dramas to star-studded comedies, ground-breaking documentaries to kids’ favourites, with new premieres added every month.

Yes, you can download EE TV tvOS App from the Apple TV app store. If you have downloaded previously the BT TV app, it will be the same, rebranded and updated to support Apple's native TV Provider account setup.

Thanks. But can you also download say Spotify from the apple app store on the Apple TV box supplied by EE? So they havent restricted the box in anyway so its restricted to only apps supported / integrated into the EE TV App?

I use Apple TV and can confirm that Spotify is available as native app in app store. I can't comment on the devices supplied by EE, but I doubt that they will be any different from ones supplied by Apple and other retailers. Knowing Apple, they don't allow to mess around with they're hardware or operating system in any way. The only exclusive thing to EE customers is the remote controller (as mentioned in original post), which is only a Bluetooth device. There are few other manufactures offering alternatives to Apple's original remote.

I have already downloaded the EE TV app and confirmed it works. But
unfortunately that does not help me to find out when our EETV hardware
will be arriving.

Thanks for trying to help.

I have the current BT TV box only which works with the new EETV services
but that does not help me find out when my  EETV hardware will be arriving.

Cheers for trying to help.

@Deano1711  - did your EE TV service activate as planned? How you are finding the EE TV app on Apple TV please?

Im struggling to find any in depth reviews of it online so would appreciate if you could let me know your thoughts?

I’m undecided between the EE TV Box Pro and Apple TV..

My EETV service was activated as planned, looking good.

However, I have not had any communication detailing what EETV hardware
or when it will arrive.

Nor have I been able to talk to EE about it, no working communication
channel available.

Hi

Yes set up all went perfect which doesnt suprise me seeing as apple are dealing with things.  The 4k box is smooth and slick much much quicker than sky stream the app works great and what i love is i have all the live tv and all my apps under one place i.e apple paramount disney ect ect. . However at present the app is missing a few things which i hope will come in time. A continue watching rail . A playlist rail and also a programme bar would be nice when watching live tv so you could see whats on other channels before changing as it is you have to open the guide up to change channel or open a number pad on screen to punch the channel number in. And also you cant restart any movies on sky movies ect so its either watch live or go to the now app. A watch live or watch from the library option would be nice. But its all early days at the moment and this could be a really big thing for ee if managed right.. so verdict so far i am impressed if things are added gradually.

@Deano1711 I think thats the main benefit of Apple TV box. The EETV app doesnt necessarily need to have the on demand bits as you can use native Apple TV for that (siri works great when asking for things like new movies this month etc as it searches all your apps). Also, the Apple TV app allows you to add all your streaming apps as linked channels. (except Netflix), so thats also pretty good at delivering multi app content all in one place. Another good app is Just Watch on Apple TV as you can add your streaming subs and BBC iPlayer, ITV etc and its a good app for showing what has become available to stream for free by day (and also search for content)

Not to mention Apple Music, Spotify, Arcade etc. plus the box is as powerful as it comes.

I called again and I can order but only the full works package. I tried sky stream and sent it back immediately as it was so bad. So for now I have no choice but to wait. I’m not going to pay £78 per month just to have Apple TV and EE TV.

Thanks @Deano1711

It’s nice to hear about your experience. I do currently have an Apple TV 4K so I’m familiar with it, my only concerns have been what to expect from the EE TV app but your experience sounds promising. I understand to get the full experience I’ll need to order the Apple 4K device at the time of ordering EE TV as using your own device with the EE app doesn’t give the full experience.

I had a callback scheduled from EE today which didn’t happen so will have to try and call again tomorrow to order.

@qucharsky - I’ve also tried Sky Stream when it first launched and wasn’t impressed either, I had times were apps kept freezing or refused to open. I lost count of how many times I had to restart the thing but hopefully it’s improved since then. That said the picture quality for live tv was excellent.

@Profile closed picture quality was very good on most things including live tv but the slow laggy UI is still there unfortunately. I also have standard Apple TV 4K I wish we could just use ee tv app to have full functionality like sky go instead of having to order a new Apple TV which I can’t even do unless I get the top package 😂

@qucharsky I didnt have this issue. But have ordered broadband and TV as new (moving from Sky). Was able to cherry pick everything like you can on the website. I already have a number of mobiles with EE

The swap to EE for Now TV was live instantly, as was apple TV+. I already have another Apple 4k box, so as an interim I am using the TV Launcher app (from app store) and its a pretty slick experience whilst I wait for the full swap out to EE TV

@Doddsy14 and I think that’s the issue most people have. We moved to the new EE broadband before we knew TV will be launched. So we are classed as existing customers. If only I waited 2 more weeks I probably would’ve been in the same situation as you right now. But there’s no point in being upset about stupid tv. At the end of the day it’s EE who is losing revenue - I am only slightly inconvenienced by having to use separate apps etc 😂

I have had EE mobile for years and broadband since March 2023, contract runs to March 2025. I want to add EETV Entertainment bundle to my account but have been told I cannot until my contract expires! I cannot believe EE are forcing me to go to a competitor (Sky Stream looks best option) rather than add a new service to my account, even if I have to upgrade internet service. I’m currently very pleased with FullFibre 500 bundle we opted for.  I’ve tried upgrade team, complaint team and EE newsroom team, all unable to help. I’m trapped and frustrated, never known a company turn down a request to upgrade and pay more!!

Unless you’re classed as a ‘legacy’ EE broadband customer, i.e. a loyal existing customer. I’ve been told I have to wait until March 2025 when my contract expires.. sucks!!

@DD64 Everyone seems to be getting a different answer. They say I can add EE TV but only full works package which is stupid. I’m not paying £78 for something I won’t use. Funny thing is they will probably let you have it when you already took service from sky or you’re no longer interested 😂

I know it’s bonkers. Come April ‘25 I’ll be switching BB provider for sure and potentially before then me, Mrs D and daughter will be ending our mobile contracts. I like to keep everything from one supplier, so unless EE get a shuffle on and respect loyal customers I’ll be gone..

@DD64 I have 10 lines if you count broadband 😂 so not that easy to just move with every line having different contract end date. I am giving EE around £350 per month but they don’t seem to want more 😂

Well the promised call back never happened earlier this week so I called back this morning to be told that I need to move from BT to EE broadband first of all then after that’s complete I can order TV.

Broadband order placed which is due to complete tomorrow so I’ll be on EE Broadband by end of day tomorrow.

I can then, apparently, order EE TV from Saturday onwards.

Have EETV advised you what hardware and when it will be delivered??

Good luck I really hope you can get it. But it makes me wonder if they told you to order you need to be on the new Ee broadband then why those on it can’t order it… many posts and different threads mentioned that only people that didn’t move yet can order both at the same time. Fingers crossed for you 😊

Interesting.

I was out of contract with BT when I switched in November, opting for
Mobile, Broadband and TV services at the same time.

They still have not advised the hardware bundle or delivery of same.

From past experience, I find EETV to have been pretty hopeless at
customer services but your situation is definitely counter intuitive.

I wonder if it might be related to their inability to roll-out EETV
properly and promptly, generating a backlog.

Cheers,
