EE today launched its new TV service, EE TV, available with EE Broadband.

EE TV means amazing entertainment and sport, with Sky channels from NOW, Netflix, TNT Sports and more – through flexible packages that can be changed month to month, so customers only have to pay for what they want to watch.

The biggest news? EE TV will launch on Apple TV 4K via a new app with a bespoke TV guide for a complete and seamless live TV experience, as well as an EE branded remote offering instant app access. Customers can now choose the best TV experience for them, with a range of set top boxes including Apple TV 4K, EE TV Box Pro, or EE TV Box Mini.

For customers wanting to watch in multiple rooms, only EE TV comes with up to 2 extra EE TV Box Mini’s at no extra cost.

Those joining the new EE TV service will be able to enjoy six months free Apple TV+. Apple TV+ offers award-winning Apple original series and films, from hit dramas to star-studded comedies, ground-breaking documentaries to kids’ favourites, with new premieres added every month.

I wanted to make sure that my previous post regarding the wireless connection between box and TV is solved.

Then post your enquiry as an actual thread in the proper forums, probably the TV forum. It's more likely to be addressed there keeping to the subject, rather than this overreaching blog.

Hi @XRaySpeX

Thanks for your reply.

I'm sure you are aware that OpenReach is owned by BT Group.

I'm not here to create a bubble of rant. I'm just raising a concern, that a single service is marketed (in subject as EE TV), that is not actually available without locking in with other service that is not required for many consumers. I'm sure for many others this will be a great bundle.

@BobbyAxelrod : Yes, I am fully aware that BT, EE & OR are all independent subsidiaries of the BT Group with their own products.

@XRaySpeX I think the point that @BobbyAxelrod was also making is that there's not really any reason why EE TV is locked to only EE Broadband customers.

I can see and download the EE TV app on my Apple TV - but I can't sign up as I don't have EE Broadband.  If they also launched it as a standalone service, I'd probably subscribe.

The 'direct' competitor to this is Sky with their Sky Stream boxes - which doesn't tie you down to Sky Broadband (although they've not *yet* launched a pure App based service that I can just install on my existing box without having to get a new one) so why does EE do this?

Have a discount on EE TV and Broadband as a bundle compared to buying it separately - but have the 2 products available as separate services as well.

Well still unable to add it to my EE broadband. Every time I call it’s a different excuse. One day it’s not working the next I can only get the full works and today I was told apparently all orders have been suspended? It’s shocking how bad the service is.

Agreed @qucharsky - I’m tempted to sign another 18 month deal with sky as this has been very amateur and every time I call up they panic. I only want the tv package …

@mirrors90 i agree but I think I’ll go with sky stream. At least the sky channels are in 4k unlike now tv… very unprofessional of EE not to make an official announcement that they face technical issues launching the service.

@qucharsky that’s my option too, to get sky stream !

Thanks

@Neil-O morning Neil; thanks! Do you know when? Sky are telling me to recontract unless my bill will go up to £120 a month in Jan - so I’m worried about that if this keeps dragging on!

I managed to get tv added today after putting in a complaint . Complaints emailed me telling me to call a number and ask for the new ee sales team. Straight through lovely guy. Basically puts the order through as a brand new customer so activation date is jan 8th amd old one finishes then aswell.  Apple4k box and 2 mini boxes. Fingers crossed it all works straight away.

Lot of talk about trying to get EEtv, my experience is that it is not available despite the advertising. Put in an order then received message asking for equipment to be returned, despite not having received any, on app order had been cancelled. After a complaint was told that it is not available at moment apart from to selected people who are trialing it while they get it to work. Seems some honestly about situation would be a benefit to manage expectations

I agree @Nickpc - I’ve given up now I’m waiting for sky to offer me a better deal so I can stay with them. The ee tv launch has been an absolute mess from day 1 and at least with sky you know it works from day 1 and they don’t mess around

@Neil-O  Your comment shows positivity but does seem to tie up with what I have been told, time for EE to be open about what is occurring

@Deano1711 those migrating from old ee to new ee can order - but I’m already on new ee so tv is blocked

I was with BT and moved to new EE only 2 weeks before it was launched it is extremely disappointing but I’ll give them till beginning of January to sort this out. If not they will lose another customer although I doubt anyone cares.

I am being told that this is only for new EE broadband customers and that it will only be available to me when my current contract ends in September. Unfortunately my sky tv is due for re contract now and my renewal dates will never sync meaning EE TV is inaccessible to me. Really poor service but typical! I will have no choice but to move my broadband over to sky in September.

@Cameron145 this is ee biggest problem, the lack of training of the employees.

To clear this up, whilst it’s difficult to get ee tv (which is crazy in itself, you’d have thought they would be out there selling it) - it’s not impossible.

i spoke to a lady who told me I could only get it on BT, so I needed to transfer my account to BT - which is obviously incorrect .

you need to speak to the NEW EE team, and they can set it all up - if you’re not on new ee , you can’t get it. If you’re unsure , you’re not on new ee as you had to call up and get the new broadband router.

because of all the delays I am trying to recontract with sky , with such a bumpy launch - I don’t have much confidence in this tv launch. I finally got through to someone who would sell me ee tv, but he told me he couldn’t give me an Apple TV - which defeated the objective.

Yes looks like I am going to have to recontract with sky as I don’t have time for this

When I called today I could order but as usual the system is not working apparently and can only order the Full Works package for £78 per month which I don’t need as only wanted the basic one. This just helped me decide to go with sky stream…

When will this be available to order please?

I called up yesterday to move my BT Broadband service to EE with Big Entertainment TV but was told there was a delay with the launch which should be resolved in a few weeks.

Was I just unlucky with who I spoke to? Has anyone been able to order successfully yet? Cheers

With the EE TV version of the Apple TV box, are you able to download the full available applications from the apple app store? So other streaming apps such as Amazon, Disney+ etc? (Realising that these subscriptions would be managed independently from EE TV packages)

I have EE broadband, mobile and TV with "fibre to the door" recently installed by Openreach working.

Lucky me.

However, I cannot find out when the EE TV box and multi room equipment might arrive to replace my existing BT TV box.

No online chat available when logged in to my EE account.

No pending orders showing.

Contact Us  page does not provide a communication channel for this enquiry.

150 from mobile phone does not result in an option whereby I can check EE TV.

Shades of Dejavu when EE terminated their last "much loved by me" EE TV offering, virtually without warning and eliminating all my recordings.

Lousy communications experienced when I signed up for the old EE TV offering, never received my free Tablet.

I was hoping this experience might be better.
