Apple iPhone launches and why I love them

If you're not a dedicated Apple fan, awaiting the launch of a new iPhone each year with bated breath, then you probably wonder why people get so excited about it. Surely it can't be that amazing?

Well, in my opinion, even the most tech-phobic people out there can't fail to be impressed by Apple's latest offering; not one but three super high-spec smartphones, that can pretty much revolutionise your life (yes, seriously).

New kids on the block

So what was it that die-hard Apple fans had to look forward to this year? Well, first of all there was the iPhone XS, which has a Super Retina screen in two sizes (that's a screen that displays things just as your own eye would see it in real life).

The largest of these is a ginormous 6.5 inches which is the largest display ever on an iPhone, and one of the largest on the market. Pretty cool if you like watching videos and playing games on the move - I for one have ditched the tablet for my film watching when I'm travelling as the screen is so big now that it's just not worth carrying two different screens that do the same job.

At a slightly lower price point is the iPhone XR which has an all-new Liquid Retina display, the most advanced LCD in the industry. This is available to pre-order from the 19th of October.

Updated features

All three can be unlocked using a faster-than-ever Face ID, which unlocks the phone just by looking at it. It's a very secure way of keep your phone and the information it contains safe (so long as you don't have a twin of course - although Apple assures us that it's even twin-proof).

Did you know that the iPhone is the world's most popular camera? It really is, and now you can create photos like never before, and even adjust the depth of field in photos after you take them. How amazing is that? It beats carrying around a bulky SLR to get professional looking Insta photos.

Safety first

They also all have the most durable glass ever in a smartphone which is great if you're someone as clumsy as I am (or who is always dropping your phone, or letting it get bashed about in your bag).

A new level of dust and water resistance means it can withstand being two metres underwater for up to 30 minutes - believe me, that beats the great rush to get a bag of rice to dry it out when inadvertently dunked ;).

Faster off the mark

And as if that isn't enough, all three have the smartest, most powerful chip ever in a smartphone. It lets you have multiple apps open at once, switch between them seamlessly, and do everything you love to do on your phone just as fast as you want to.

So before you brush off the latest Apple launch as a load of hype, think about what one of the new phones could do for you. If you're thinking of upgrading your phone, you may as well upgrade it to the latest and greatest - right?
