Fibre Broadband...

... What's the big deal?

Fibre Broadband, it’s all the rage these days. But I bet if you ask around your mates, not many of them really know what it is, how it’s different to regular broadband and what all those megawhatsits mean in the real world.

So to make sure your a step ahead of your chums, here's the lowdown...

Fibre Broadband is super duper lightning fast home broadband, that’s up to ten times faster than the average speed of normal home broadband (usually called ADSL).

ADSL transmits down copper wires that were originally designed for connecting phone calls, not huge reams of data. Fibre Broadband, on the other hand, sends information as pluses of light down individual optical fibres that are made of glass. This means less interference, greater signal strength over longer distances and faster connection speeds.

It also sounds cooler and like it’s from the future.

And the good news is that we’re making this cool sounding, futuristic technology available to 11 million homes across the country. So whether you’re streaming HD TV, playing live games or watching a film (or if everyone in your household is doing all of it at the same time) you’ll get consistently quick broadband, whenever you want it.

Pretty neat, right? We like to think so!

So, has anyone made the switch? And if so, how are you finding it?
