Upgrading to Pixel 5

How come the Pixel 5 upgrading plans are so bad? The phone costs £600 to buy yet EE is asking for and upfront fee (which is like £100 - £170) and are asking for around £50 a month with 10gb data for 24 months which is more expensive with less data on my current plan. So 50 x 24 = £1200 + the upfront fee is around £1350 in total. 1350 - 600 (Cost of the phone) = £750 is what you are paying for the service and to me that isn't worth it. Even their new customer deals are better than what they are offering to loyal customers. I think they have got this wrong. If EE don't update this you should look elsewhere or buy the phone and get a sim only deal.

Hello @AidanF ,

Welcome to the community,

Firstly, if you take a look at sim only deals the amount that costs times 24 months, this is included in the monthly cost of paying for the phone, so different, both have to be payed. You can get the phone elsewhere and then upgrade with a sim only, if you so wish and think it would be cheaper.

New customers get a better deal to entice them to join, I believe this happens everywhere, normal practice.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

Hi @Schockwave

'New customers get a better deal to entice them to join, I believe this happens everywhere, normal practice.' is not a relevant reason to undercut upgrading customers. People should just look to obtain these plans whether they are upgrading or new. Do not upgraded and get these deals as a new customer. Upgrading should not be a reason to overprice plans. If i upgrade I'll be looking to obtain the same (if not better) than new customers.
