Trade ins for upgrades

Hay,

Just looking for advice. My contact is up as of next month and I've been told I can now upgrade. I wanted too keep this device and give it to someone and upgrade to a new one myself how do I go about doing this, or do I have to trade in my device for a new one? 

I've looked everywhere for a definitive answer but I'm still not quite getting it.

Are you in month 23 of your contract?

Is it free for you to upgrade? if yes, you will not need to return your device.

Yes I am in month 23 and have been told I can upgrade with no fee.

Hi @NonaC28

Thanks for coming back to us. 

If you're in the last 45 days before your plan ends, you can upgrade as normal with no upgrade fee and you can keep your old phone.
