SSO is Proving Awkward for New Customers

New custs who have registered a MyEE initially to solely use the Community cannot buy anything from the Shop while logged in. It assumes they are an existing cust of EE & insists they add a no., which they don't have, to MyEE.
Can't the shop use a bit of intelligence in these circumstances and when MyEE has no no. registered to assume a brand new cust with no existing EE products?
