Region lock UK sim card in Asia

Samsung phones come with a region lock that have to be used for the first time with a local UK sim card.

My question if I have taken my new phone to Asia and use it for the first time with a UK sim card in Asia with roaming, will it be sufficient to open region lock because the sim card has a UK phone number?

Or does it have to be used physically in the UK for the first time?

Thank you

EE SIMs need 1st activating on EE's home UK network. If it wasn't you can't now use it until you return to UK.

@Hershzon   Do you mean a device network unlock ?  If that’s what you mean then unfortunately it’ll not work with a different network carrier as the device is lock to EE and can not be unlocked for 6 months starting from the date of purchase.

there is no such thing a region lock on a device

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.
