Old Phone / New PAYG SIM

Thomps557

Hi,

I've just ordered a brand new free PAYG sim from site which has come, no problems.

I'm trying to now use it with a pretty old, non-smart Sony Ericcson phone. I'm getting full bars on the reception, but the message 'Insert Correct SIM card'

I've tried to register, in case I need to top-up to activate it, but it sends a text message verification, which I can't access...

Any ideas? Phone too old? Wrong type of SIM?

Thanks

Hello @Thomps557

Welcome to the EE Community.

Is the SIM you are using the correct size?

The phone you are using, is it open to the EE network?

Speak soon,

Katie 🙂

Hi,

Yes, standard SIM - Old T-mobile phone.

I can see full bars on reception, but still saying 'Insert correct SIM
card'

Spoke to tech services, they said it was suspended, so unsp and added £1
credit - restarted... still the same...

Thanks for getting back to me @Thomps557

When did you speak with our technical care team?

Katie 🙂

Hi Katy,

About 30 mins ago, but line dropped. They text saying they would call but
back but nothing since.

Cheers,

Steve

Your phone needs unlocking from T-M to use an EE SIM.

Where did you yourself get this device itself originally? Did you buy it yourself new direct from EE/T-M or from a 3rd-party reseller or is it 2nd-hand? The unlocking process & costs are different. Was it originally on contract or PAYG?
