Number swap (flip-flop) between EE and Virginmobile

Hi everyone,

I have two phones, both unlocked, one on a EE pay monthly and the other on a Virginmobile pay monthly.

What I’d like to do is swap the sims between the 2 phones but keep the numbers currently associated with the current sim in the phone, I think it’s called a flip flop.

So, to be clear:

at present, phone A Virgin, number X,  phone B EE number Y

end result, phone A EE number X, phone B Virgin number Y

Is this possible to do?

Thanks for any help.

@snoofly : Is it the phones that are on contracts or is it just SIM-Only contracts?

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Hi sir,

Both are SIM only contracts.

Thanks.

I can't see how it is possible.

  • As soon as you port EE number Y to any other network it cancels the EE SIM-Only contract.
  • Conversely as soon as you port any number from any other network onto the EE SIM-Only contract it loses the EE number Y.

Thanks for your help.

I figured it may not be possible.

I guess I could port each sim to a third party via a couple separate 1 month sim contracts on 3 or something and then port them back again after setting up 2 new sim only contracts on the original providers using the PAC codes from 3 but I’d have to pay cancellation fees I suppose and it all seems a lot of hassle.

Yes, you would need new SIM-Only contracts on EE & VM.
