Declined top-up due to fraud

I always top-up using my card through the text service but my most recent top-up was declined. After calling EE they stated that the bank had contacted them stating there had been suspected fraud. The bank have never contacted me nor blocked my card, and according to them they would never contact a firm regarding suspicious transactions, they would always contact the customer. I personally have no evidence of fraud on my card. I also never top up with a different card, or to a different phone, and I never have anyone else topping up my phone. I find EE’s activity very suspicious in this sense. Has anyone else had this?

@Katy589  have you tried to top up again ?

And if your payment didn’t go through originally that’s not down to EE.  It sounds you just got told something for the sake of telling you something.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Banks do often block top-ups to a mobile no. that's never been topped-up before from this card on the suspicion that it's a common fraud of fraudsters getting hold of someone's card details & testing them out on their own mobile nos. In such cases they contact the cardholder not the payee. But yours wasn't!

What reason did the bank give for declining the payment if they never contacted you?

I should have a word with the bank & tell them you will be topping-up your particular no. in future & they should accept it.
