I currently own an iPhone 5s which is in desperate need for an upgrade. My phone was out of contract so I took on a new sim-only plan (£20 for 100G). Given that it is a sim-only plan, could I put this sim into a BT iPhone 8 which will be out of contract in October, or would I have to get that phone unlocked? I've seen some saying that their sim works but still not sure. Also when I go to my EE account it states that I can't upgrade my phone but I don't understand why given that this is a SIM-ONLY deal, but does this apply only to when upgrading devices with EE?
Thanks.

Welcome to the EE Community,
your EE sim should work in the phone without any issues.
you will be able to upgrade your sim only contract once you have reached month 6 of your contract.
Thanks,
David.
