iMessage notification tone

Hi

For a while now since at least iOS 15 when receiving iMessage texts I don’t have an “alert tone” but a badge is shown.

I have checked all the settings to confirm that it should be enabled

This only happens with iMessage normal texts are ok, I am currently on iOS 18.2 and my current phone is a iPhone 15 and previous phones were 5S.

The current sim I have held for a few years now having upgraded when contract expires.

Has any other Community Member experienced this issue please.

@Profile closed  If this is happening from device to device this would probably because when ever this started and you got the new device you transferred what ever settings you had on one device to the next,     I’ve looked through the settings within sounds & hepatics and the messages app settings and within notifications settings and I can not see how you would not get a sound for iMessage but you do for a text.    The only way I can see away to resolve this would be a reset in settings/general/transfer or reset/reset/reset all settings.    Backup the device first then do try the reset but do not restore from the back ( yet ). You need to setup from scratch and test the iMessage notification to see if It works correctly try the back you made and test that.  If no sound again it’s reset time and set the device up from scratch.

iMessage uses the same sound notifications as the text messages so I find it strange you get it on one but not the other.

Hi

The current sim ha bern used in previous iphones from EE since about 2017, Could the phone benefit from a new sim?

@Profile closed  It’s not the sim,  if this has happened on previous devices and you then transferred information from that device to a new device you moved what is causing this to the new device.

Are the phone settings specific (saved) to the sim?

Looking at online Apple Support, owners of iPhones have this issue like mine, Apple Support response have indicated Network supplied sim may require an updated sim?
