So I’m thinking of upgrading soon and was wondering if the EE trade in service is worth doing as I have been reading some horror stories about it.

What horror stories. 

As long as you pay next day registered post with insurance (over the free postage) then you'll be fine. 

Alternatively use one of the hundreds of other online phone sale services.
