Phones saying there’s no sim

My phones recently not recognising my SIM card and not allowing me to send or receive texts

Have you restarted the phone and tried removing and reinstalling the SIM card?

My husband tried removing the sim .. it worked in his device . We returned it to mine and it worked for a short while .. then same message . Texts and voice calls affected . 
what’s app is fine
