Home Screen

Myself and partner both have an iPhone 14, my partner can turn mobile data on and off from the Home Screen. When I try to do it I can turn it on from the home screen but to turn it off I have to go into the settings in the mobile data and turn it off there. Does anybody know why this is or how to resolve it. Not a major issue I know but it’s annoying me !

@Belburn78  After following @Lesley_W advice, highly recommended you give this ago, ( you can even put the same cellular data toggle on there twice to test with )

you have 2 options wait till iOS 18.6 is pushed out to see if this resolves the issue or try a factory restore.    Don’t forget to backup the device if you do this so you can then restore from that backup

iOS 18.6 beta 1 was pushed out 6 days ago so it’ll be awhile yet before it’s available.

Hi @Belburn78

Swipe down - Quick settings - hold down on the WiFi icon.

He might have an appointment installed or just ask him.

Thanks

Hey there @Belburn78!

Thanks for stopping by 😊

You could possibly be on different iOS versions causing the discrepancy, or it is possible to customise the layout of the control centre.

On iOS 18.5, if you swipe down from the top-right it should display the default control centre, and this has the option for WiFi as standard but not mobile data.

If you then select the small icon at the right side of the screen that looks like a mast with radio waves, it'll take you to the dedicated page for your connections.

Apple have more details on how this all works in their help guide here.

Peter

Thank you for your reply. I can use the quick action from the pull down menu to toggle WiFi on and off fine. I can toggle mobile data on from the same pull down menu but when I want to turn it back off I press the mobile data on the pull down menu and it takes me to mobile data settings. My partner can toggle mobile data both on and off from the same quick action pull down menu. Same model of phones so can’t understand why one phone will do it but one won’t.

Good morning @Belburn78

Thanks for explaining what is happening.

That does seem strange you can turn it on but not back off, is your phone on the latest software?

Ritu

Yes my phone is updated to the latest update. It is baffling me as same handset on the same account yet one handset you can toggle the mobile data on and off yet the other one you can only turn it on and then to turn it off it takes you to the settings to turn it off. WiFi is the only one that can be turned on and off from the pull down menu. Same issue with Bluetooth from the pull down menu, can be turned on but when I go to turn it off it takes me to the Bluetooth menu settings. I know this isn’t a major issue but it’s frustrating me !

Thanks for confirming that @Belburn78

Have you ever tried removing and re-adding them in the control panel to see if that makes a difference?
