Hi. I hope that someone will be able to help me with this before I chew the table out of pure frustration.
I need to be able to divert calls from my Pixel 9 Pro.
I am on a relatively pay monthly contract.
Every time I try to get the thing to divert, whether it be all calls or with conditions set such as "if no reply", I get a message saying "SIM or Network error".
For the sake of my table leg any advice would be gratefully received.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

FYI you have a short time after posting to "edit post", negating the need to post corrections or additional short replies.
How "relatively new" is "relatively new" - are you saying you converted from PAYG? Or that your pay-monthly line was a new connection? And in either case, when exactly?
Have you been able to set or amend call diverts previously? Are you using WiFi-calling, or are you connected to the mobile network?

Hi And many thanks for your useful response.
The problem has been resolved as a result of following up a clue in your questions. For some reason I had switched off part of my brain and forgotten I was using Wi-Fi calling. Stopping that immediately allows me to transfer calls to whatever number I need. It also explains why I wasn't getting any voicemail when the phone was switched off.
Most grateful. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Pleased your diverts are now working, but not sure about your voicemail comment.
There's no reason voicemails shouldn't work when on WiFi-calling just as they do over mobile network - depositing, retrieving, and notifying.

No, I'm sure there is no reason other than the fact that machines hate me. But attempting to use the divert when busy etc to voicemail doesn't work with WiFi calling on and does work now I have switched it off.
Anyway, all is now fine and your help much appreciated.
