Recoding Problems

To try to remedy problems with recording TV programmes, during the last eight months we have had delivered to us three EE TV Box Pro Units, two routers and a new cable. We have also reset the units many times. These replacement units were forwarded to us to eliminate a variety of faults; although none of them succeeded.

To expand, more than twenty programmes we tried to record over the last couple of months have either, failed to record, or recorded part, but no all, of the programmes. England v Panama stopped recording at half time!!!!!

In addition, when fast forwarding through the adverts in some recorded programmes, the screen freezes and returns to the start of the programme, requiring us to fast forward back to the where the screen froze. This takes minutes to effect.

Also, to see the missing parts of programmes, we have to sit through all the adverts within these programmes from commercial stations, such as ITVX, which defeats the objective of fast forwarding through these adverts on EE.

Over the last few months, our experiences have been stressful to say the list. We have spent hours, on the telephone to EE, resetting EE units and using apps to see part watched programmes.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems?

Hi John,

not much help with your problems, sorry, however there is a simple way to return to where you were viewing if the screen freezes and you are returned to the start of the recording - the Number Buttons take you to the point of the Recording in one tenth increments. So pressing 1 jumps to one-tenth through,2 jumps to two-tenths through,5 to halway through etc..At least it saves the hassle of fast-forwarding to original position.

The problems you describe are similar to ones I've experienced to varying degrees (now better but still occasionally "freezes" etc.) - when they happened with me I noticed it sometimes appeared to be caused when I turned the Subtitles on or off (wouldn't want them when watching Football) so wonder if you tend to use Subtitles much. Also if you are watching a Recording and it freezes and returns to the Start you'll probably notice that any other Programmes you are watching stop Recording so you have to remember to reset them to Record again- I wonder if you watch a lot of Recordings and you hadn't noticed that the Errors coincided with the glitches you mention (so,if you are watching a Recording that goes wrong and returns to Start always see if you are recording anything else at that time and reset it).

Another thing that usually happens is when you get that Freeze and it restarts you'll see the "viewable" Channel has become BBC1.

     Good luck with getting sorted.

Thanks, Graham much more useful than EE. BW John.
